Our last bone marrow biopsy went great! It showed no leukemia cells. This shows that she is having a positive early response to the chemo which is a very, very good thing! All of her labs are coming back "smashing!" We are dealing with secondary complications such as situational diabetes. This is only tempoary and should resolve once we are off the strong steroids. Consequently she has to have blood sugars checked often, insulin injections, and follow a carb controlled diet. not fun! In trying to be supportive, I am counting carbs along with her. It is hard when someone has a birthday up here every other day and wants to share their cake. Keep the dang cake to yourselves!
Kristin is getting very tired more often and is noticing that she can pull out clumps of hair....I am sad. Although I knew this was coming, I was taken back by the situation and caught off guard. Baldness goes hand in hand with leukemia and every parent up here would rather have a beautifully healthy, shining bald child than a sick one with a top knot of hair. Hair issues or not!

My parents got me a kitten for Christmas, and you would’ve just loved him. He’s so cute! He’s all white and has kind of a black-striped tail. I’ve named him Opie, and he loves to sleep all day and play all night. (oh yeah im lovin that! :p)

What wonderful news! All of those prayers are definitely helping. There are so many people praying for you, many that you've never met. We hope that the headaches have subsided and that you will soon be able to return to Reno. Keep that smile on your face and that positive attitude.

I've just found out about all of this. It is a bit hard when your a few states away from a person but i try to keep up with the people that i care about and you are one of them. I truely couldnt believe what i was reading when I first was finding out about all that has happened. It makes me very sad that some of the worst things seem to happen to the most kind and undeserving of people but there isnt a thing that I can do besides support you and and help you see the bright side. I hope this note finds you in good spirits and on the mend. I think you are the greatest kid and you have been in my prayers since I heard about your set back. I talked to your dad this morning and he said things are going very well! I told him that I will bring by some very effective medicine, TCBY yogurt when you get home.
