LLS Society Girl of the Year
Kristin was honored to help kick-off the Leukemia Lymphoma Society's Man&Woman & Celebrity of the year this past week. She has be chosen to be the Girl of the Year. Our night began at 5:30 as we all watched the spot on Ch. 2 that Neda Iranpour did on Kristin. She highlighted efforts that the kids at Galena have been doing to raise funds and awareness on Kristin's behalf. If you missed it, you can log onto their website at KTVN.com and watch both of the spots that they aired. Neda is a gifted story teller and she did a fabulous job with Kristin's. At 6:00 a limousine from the Silver Legacy came to the house and picked us up to take us to the Reno Downtown Ballroom. Kristin invited Danny Hames to take Eric's spot. (he is in Alaska working for the summer) The boys had a great time and loved the ride! Yes, so did the rest of us. Jamey Hinman;LLS hard working campaign manager, greeted us and introduced Kristin to the nominees for the campaign. She had her picture taken with each one of them while Cody and Wyatt tried out the hors d'oeuvre....in the end the tuxedo chocolate covered strawberries were the night's favorites. surprise! along with Neda, Kristen Remington is campaigning for celebrity of the year also. These two greeted Kristin and quickly became her friends. We are grateful for the kindness they have extended to her. Karen Cox,(GHS leadershhip advisor and beloved teacher)Darren Lasko, Annie, Kristin#3, the Dugans, Kyle Harris and Danny Hames all came to support her as well. The night was good medicine for her. She was surrounded and supported by so many friends. (instead of having Darren and I hoovering about her) It was good for me to loosen the strings and let her go. Darren and I loved seeing her sitting on the floor surrounded by friends. It was a very sweet moment for us to see her in this mode. I see her mourning this loss everyday and wish desperately that I could give her these moments more often. They are rare, so we savoured the night and hope that the memories carry her through for a while. At the end of the evening, thanks to Jamey, Neda and Kristen she felt LOVED. That seems so simple, but if you could have seen her smiling , you to would know that it goes way beyond simple.
