WAIT AND SEE......

Just a quick update..
Yesterday Kristin's ANC (absolute neutrophil count) was low and today her labs came back with an even lower number. A normal ANC would be between 3000-5000. Her's is 450. This means she is very susceptible to serious infection. This is common when your immune system has been destroyed with chemotherapy. Consequently we are on hold until tomorrow's labs come back.

She has felt pretty awful the last few days. Now that she is off some of the strong steroids, her blood sugars are trying to correct themselves as her pancreas begins to do it's job. This is causing her blood sugar to crash. Every hour she seems to be breaking out in a sweat, grow weak and very shaky. We are getting a hold on the situation and it looks like we will not be going home with insulin. Yes!

We have watched all the great musicals while we have been here. You must know that this is something that would never be tolerated at home so we have taken advantage of the time. Unfortunately songs get stuck in our heads and we catch ourselves sings Ardelviss in our sleep.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your prayers. Kristin had a "moment" today when she realized all everyone is doing for her.

Live Happy! Leslie

Grandpa Johney here.

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the morror and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.

Well, she said I think I'll braid my hair today? So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.

H-M-M, she said, I think I'll part my hair down the middle today? So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that she had only one hair on her head.

Well, she said, today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail. So she did and she had a fun, fun day.

The next day she work up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head. YEA, she exclaimed, I don't have to fix my hair today.

Attitude is everything. Be kinder that ;necessary, for everyone you meet in fighting some kind of battle.

Live simply, Love generously, Care deeply, Speak kindly....

Leave the rest to God.

Life isnt about waiting for the storm to pass... It's about learning to dance in the rain.

So just remember to leave the rest to God and he will take care of you and the sun will shine tomorrow.

My love to you and all.

I am amazed at your strength Kristin and hope you get to come home soon. You are a tough cookie and we are sending positive thoughts and prayers your way everyday. Leslie you amaze me. I have been reading your blogs since day one. Thank you for having the strength to write when you do and keeping us informed of the progress. I keep hoping to look and see that you are home. I just can't believe all that has gone on and wish there was something I could do for you all. I have a little surprise for Kristen when you get home. A little creation made special for you. I have to comment on my Lulu. If you need something to smile about, wait until you see Lulu. She is the most adorable, loving, sweet dog we could have asked for. She looks just like her Mom. Everybody falls in love with her and thinks that she is the cutest dog they have ever seen. I want to bring her to visit when you get home. Kristin keep living strong. We are thinking about you alot.

Kristen, I know Brett tried to reach you in the morning before he went into the MTC. He was thinking of you. We all were. It was a busy time for us, but you remain in our prayers. We can do that no matter where we are or what we are doing. Sending Brett off was a wonderful thing and a hard thing at the same time. I would have him anywhere else, but I will miss him. This is a perfect example of living between a rock and a hard place. I will take my hard place and learn to love it. By the time he returns to Reno, you will have returned to full health. Perhaps we can each mark our journey for these next two years by each other's milestones. I know because of the things he will do and his reliance on our Heavenly Father that he will be a stronger and more amazing version of himself. I know the same is true for you. May you health and strength be returned to you in full measure and my the road to that place be as smooth as possible. Love you, LaRae
